3015 Salena St - St Louis
Killeen Studio Office Renovation of 1886 Factory Building for Use as Modern Office for Growing Architectural Firm Killeen Studio acted as architect, developer and general contractor and employed historic tax credits in comleting this project.
March 2006 - St Patrick's Day/Grand Opening Party - Post Renovation
The building was originally built by and home to the Lecoutour Bros Stair Mfg Co. In subsequent years 3015 Salena housed an ice cream cone company, a wooden heel manufacturing company, an aluminum siding company and the Continental Lithography Co.
Killeen removed office wall partitions which had been installed after the Lecoutour Bros vacated the building. This step restored the floor plan to an open factory layout and gave the building a more spacious, studio feel.
2005 - Pre-Renovation
In the years between the Continental Lithography Co. and Killeen Studio, 3015 fell into disrepair through neglect and was not fit for occupency.
Post Renovation
Decades worth of paint was removed from wooden columns, brick walls and 2nd floor ceiling.
Post Renovation The original window frames were retained and repaired where necessary, while the industrial plastic panes were replaced with new glass. The result is a well-lit space which benefits from functional, opening windows.
Post Renovation
The century+ old pine floors were for the most part salvaged and refinished and were replaced with new pine in areas where previous owners had removed the floor.
Pre-Renovation
The building was used for storage of various junk and was allowed to fall into disrepair.
Above is an example of office partition walls not original to the building. These walls were removed by Killeen.
